Margaret Safo, writing as Peggy Oppong, was a prolific writer of romantic fiction. She had a BA (Hons) degree in English and Russian languages from the University of Ghana, Legon. She also had an MPhil in Communication Studies from the same University.

Margaret was married to Kojo Safo, a very supportive husband with whom she had four children.
