Symbolism of the Baobab Tree
The Baobab tree grows in 32 African countries. It is also known as the “tree of life” because of the many uses it provides: shelter, clothing, food and water for animal and human inhabitants of the African savannah regions. It does this as a succulent by absorbing and storing water in its massive trunk during the rainy season.
This enables the Baobab tree to produce a nutrient-dense fruit during the dry arid season. CFR-GH adopted the name “Baobab” to symbolise the Council’s intent to be a resource to Africa and to society.
