Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe

Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe is Ghana’s former Ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro, and a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ghana’s liberal-democratic party, with roots in the colonial independence movement.

Trained as a physician, he has practiced medicine in Ghana (initially as a member of the Ghana Armed Forces), Nigeria, and the United States. In the seventies, he was detained for his involvement in a coup plot to overthrow General I.K. Acheampong’s Supreme Military Council government. In the eighties, Nyaho served as Management Chair and Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Ghana’s premier football club.

When Ghana returned to constitutional governance in the early nineties, Nyaho became one of the founding members of the NPP, and a civil rights activist. He subsequently served as Chair of the Ghana Football Association, before his diplomatic appointment to Serbia and Montenegro in 2005.

Since returning to Ghana in 2009, Nyaho has been a regular media commentator on politics and sports in Ghana. He is also a member of the Council of Patrons of Hearts of Oak, and a member of the Board of Directors of the club. Nyaho is an alumnus of Zion College (Keta) and the Faculty of Medicine, Charles University (Prague).
