A photographic documentation of Ghana’s football history.

This is the success of Ghana’s senior national football team ,the Black Stars, told in exciting ,historic and memorable photographs. It begins with the epoch making tour of the team to Great Britain in 1951, where they played ten matches losing eight and winning only two. The team played barefooted and in unfamiliar cold weather but they learnt useful lessons in tactics that would benefit them in the future. It was not accident that the Black Stars won the Africa cup for the first time in 1963.Ghana retained the cup in Tunisia 1965 and reached the final twice in succession in Ethiopia 1968 and Sudan 1970.

In 1969, the legendary Pele was in Ghana with his club Santos to further boost the game in Ghana. All these visits and their resultant beliefs helped Ghana to achieve laurels both at the World youth championships in Italy 1991 and the 1992 Barcelona Olympic games .This culminated in the historic maiden appearance at the FIFA World Cup in 2006 and the momentous victory by the Black Satellites in becoming the first African Country to win the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt in October 2009. All these historic events are captured in exciting pictures in this magazine.
