The ‘GOLDEN POD’: Its Religious, Socio-economic and Political Impact on the Gold Coast and Ghana

Cocoa has played a significant part in the economy of Ghana for more than a century. This volume of papers addresses an area of research that has received little attention. This religious and social spheres of life, and particularly the impact of Christianity on cocoa production in the Gold Coast and Ghana, as well as the impact of cocoa on Ghanaian and global Christianity have largely been undocumented. This volume also presents the biographies of some cocoa farmers. These biographical studies show the influence of cocoa production on Ghanaian life, thought and history.They also point to the vast material that awaits documentation through further biographical research.
