The Phoenix of Love
Rated 5.00 out of 502“The book The Phœnix of Love has been written… to answer the coyly defiant questions as to what love means and entails: Nature and activity of love, love of fellow creature, of God, of country, of social causes, self-love, dynamics of love…? Great and capable minds such as Thomas Aquinas, Erich Fromm, Jesuit Fr. Pedro Arrupe, C. S. Lewis and Irving Singer have, over the years, sought to unravel the meaning of the idea or concept of love, yet understanding love appears to be a discursive journey that is set to continue for a while longer…. The Phœnix of Love is, to my mind, one of the unimaginably giant steps in the unfolding discourse on the nature and activity of love and what it entails….
The young, brilliant and gifted author Anthony Gyening-Yeboah ingeniously employs philosophical, theological, scientific, psychological and sociological ideas to present his understanding of the concept of love in an intellectual and conversational manner that illuminates as much as it enriches the concept of love and the activity of loving.”

Declamations of Century: Poetry for the Lovers and the Haters of Poetry
Poetry is and must be the combination; the necessary union of music and prose, born before each, born from each, and the sacred core of each. The higher purpose of poetry is to express the truth artfully; To be the bridge connecting philosophy to art, logic to aesthetics, science to intuition, reason to emotion. And the poet must be, more so than the voice, the expression of the voice.
Declamations of Century is a book of poems concerning ageless matters of existence and consciousness, written with precision of language as a priority—that what is read is exactly what the author intends to express.
The poems in this book, despite the allusions and polysemy intrinsic to poetry, are each composed of language open to be understood and discerned by every kind of reader—Poetry should not be strictly exclusive to poets and poem enthusiasts. Just as truth benefits not only the seekers of truth, poetry should benefit and improve not only the seekers of poetry.
The contents of Declamations of Century are scrupulously arranged, so to have you submerge gradually into contemplation. Even so, to make you buoyant in thought so you rise in contemplation. And in so doing, appreciating the primary purpose of poetry and mind.

The Scholar’s Journey: A Practical Guide to Entering Graduate School and Securing Master’s and PhD Funding
Graduate school and higher education will continue to be with us till the end of time! Getting into it needs preparation, and getting funding for a PhD is a skill one must muster! One will have to provide motivation, a statement of purpose, craft a CV, write proposals, prepare a work plan and schedule, and write an email to a prospective supervisor, among others. In the end, PhDs whose projects receive funding might be required to submit conference abstracts and progress reports to funders. Each of these criteria is met by this book. It might be challenging to find all of these in one location, as Dr. Theo Acheampong argued in the book’s foreword. For the following reasons, this book stands out and fills a need:
- It is written in simple terms for easy understanding.
- It is made by a skilled individual who has gone through all of these stages.
- It compiles all the paperwork required for graduate school, as well as for obtaining grants and funding, in one place.
- The book is lighter and easier to carry when traveling.
- It includes useful examples that the author has prepared based on his experience.
- The examples provided in this book can be used by the reader to create his own narrative.
7. The book serves as a helpful resource for prospective Master’s and PhD Students

The Working Woman’s Guide to Living in Purpose
Life is indeed an interesting journey with various twists and turns. With age comes wisdom, and in my view, the obligation to share that wisdom with others; particularly young women in society who are trying to find their feet. In that regard, I have written this book to share the lessons I have leant over time in seeking a life of purpose.
Part 1 of this book is focused on helping you live in purpose. It consists of three chapters that help you find purpose, walk in purpose, and stay in purpose.
Part 2 of this book focuses on helping you build better relationships with others. It consists of two chapters that will help you understand how to work with people effectively. Part 2 is an important aspect of this book since working with others in purpose are crucial when you want to have a great impact on your life’s journey.
Part 3 of this book is about walking purposefully with your core team: your family. It focuses on the importance of understanding love, building yourself to be the anchor of the home, and making God the centre of the family.
Part 4 of this book consists of workbooks that would help you tailor the advice shared in this book to your life and purpose walk.
I hope you enjoy this book, and I also hope that this book provides you with some key lessons (at the very least) that would make your purpose walk successful.

When the Person Who is Called COVID Came

Millions of innocent people have died at the hands of an invisible, merciless plague of a killer.

How did our lives change? – Our love lives, our family lives, our work lives, our social lives, our faith, our health, our philosophies… How have we changed? How have Ghanaians changed?
By experiencing this encapsulating Poetry Chapbook, you too can relate to the phenomena of COVID and the [Ghanaian] Woman, The COVID News of Emotions that we Haven’t Reported and The Universal Human COVID Experience, all through Apiorkor’s razor-sharp Verse Journalism and poetic spirit, in over twenty pieces of poignant poetry.

In Attendance: On and Off Campus – A Personal Diary
In Attendance is the third in a series of autobiographical reflections by Ebow Daniel, who spent a 34-year career at the University of Ghana, the last ten of which saw him as Registrar – a role which, its prominence notwithstanding, he self-deprecatingly describes as bureaucrat, rather than academic; in academia, but not of it; also present at the Academic Board, but does not count for quorum; to be seen, but not heard, neither Present’ nor ‘Absent,’ in the minutes, only ‘In Attendance.’ Forewords generously contributed to In Attendance by H. E. Mrs Agnes Y. Aggrey-Orleans (Retired Diplomat), Kojo Yankah, founder, African University College of Communications (AUCC) and Ivan Addae-Mensah, Emeritus Professor of Chemistry and Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, provide compelling reason to read this book.
Following Mr. Registrar, published in 1999 and A Tale of Cape Coast published in 2004, In Attendance is a book of many parts. Beyond the autobiographical insights it provides in its vignettes, it recounts, within well-researched contextual accounts of colonial and post-colonial educational policy, the foundational stories of Adisadel College and the University of Ghana, both alma maters of the author. In Attendance also presents, with liberal doses of the author’s characteristic humour, the author’s educational and professional journey – and people encountered, some in wistful detail – from early days in Sekondi through to his professional life in Legon and to his post retirement life in Kigali, Rwanda; in the Office of President J. A. Kuffuor at the Osu Castle and Jubilee House; and, to final retirement at Another Den, his home in Tema. The author’s reflections on higher education in Ghana, on the political experiment that Ghana is, on religion, on Freemasonry, and on the role of the latter in his life, all presented in a unique style of writing, make for fascinating reading. Foreshadowing his demise in 2019, the titles of final parts of In Attendance – At the Confessional, Homestretch, In Memoriam, Nothing now Remains, Curtain, End of Story and – Final Call belie his humorous depiction of life’s lessons.
