Selasi Nana Kofi Zikpi, published mononymously as Selasi, is a poet and speaker. He believes that literary poets should prioritise evoking thought just as much as they do emotion. He insists, that
‘the fullest of poetry will always be
the pleaser and the teacher’.
With his education and extensive interest in psychology, sociology, literature and philosophy, Selasi seeks to use his poetry, more so than to entertain, to remind readers of their higher selves—their selves of peace and still, fortitude—with the aid of unerring teachings of the ancients and by invoking what he claims is the undermined champion inside of our minds: Reason.
