Mrs. Faustina Baaba Hyde is a retired Senior Lecturer of the University of Ghana. She began her teaching career in Achimota Senior High schools where she taught English language and Literature. Many years later she was promoted and then transferred to Presbyterian Boys’ and Sixth Form Science College as its first Assistant Headmistress. For the brief period of two years while she was Assistant Headmistress, she also handled English Literature at the Sixth Form level. In the University, she taught Remedial English for as long a period as she had taught in the secondary schools: thus her working life has been shared almost equally between the middle and the higher institutions.

She holds a B.A (Hons.) degree in English and M.Phil in Linguistics.

Since she retired from the University of Ghana, she has devoted her time to addressing reading and writing problems among primary school pupils. Her previous experiences of teaching at the secondary and tertiary levels uniquely place her in a position to anticipate, diagnose and remedy problems related to reading comprehension and writing skills in English.

The Graded Reader series are the crown of thirty six years of formal teaching of English.
