Akunte is a small, peaceful town. Some birds nesting in front of the King’s palace have become associated with Akunte from generation to generation. The birds have powers, which they use to punish evil-doers. However, some people do not believe in the powers of the birds. Find out what happens to them.
The King’s Daughter
When King Adegoro ascends the throne, he is warned by some fortune-tellers that, after he has reigned for some years, there will be trouble in the land. They also tell him he will put his enemies to shame only if he maintains honesty, courage and fairplay during his reign.
As the fortune-tellers have predicted, trouble suddenly breaks out in the land. But Princess Adesunle helps to deliver her father and people by quelling the fire of war and dishonesty.
Dr. Olanlokun is the University Librarian, University of Lagos. He studied at the University of Lagos, University of Ibadan and the University of Pittsburg, U.S.A, where he specialized in Library Studies. His books for children have been published in Nigeria and Great Britain. He has over 30 titles to his credit, 20 of which are in the list of Lantern Books. Several of his titles have won awards.
