• Adisa: A Lost Hope

    After years of trying to conceive, Mr and Mrs Salifu are blessed with a beautiful and intelligent daughter, Adisa. All is well until she meets the deceitful Ben Brisco who takes her life on a downward turn.

    This short story summarises the vulnerability of many young girls and women who are often lured into unhealthy relationships and are trafficked to work under horrible circumstances, sometimes even as sex slaves. The damage done these people is sometimes irreparable and can mar them for life.

    The story emphasises the need to educate girls very early on in their development, to be cautious in their love relationships especially with men who may seem too good to be true.

    Egya Tsinyinarannsɛ advised his two children, Onuaye and Fakyɛm to take to farming after completing their elementary education. The former obeyed their father’s advice but the latter refused to do farming and decided to go to Accra to look for a white-collar job.

    Through hard work and dedication, Onuaye became a wealthy person and was able to rescue his brother, Fakyɛm from imminent imprisonment. Fakyɛm went back to the village and started farming, and, later, he Fakyɛm also became a wealthy person through farming.

    On a visit to the coast of Marina, Lagos, Siwoolu and his young family are lured by a traitor to a grand merchant ship where they are captured by slaveholders masquerading as traders.     Saro is a multigenerational tale of betrayal and restitution, love and war, inspired by true events that will take the reader from the rocky terrain of Abeokuta and the burgeoning city of Lagos to the lion mountains of Freetown and Hastings of Sierra Leone from the 1830s to the 1850s.
